My very first order...within near moments of starting my official Loom Luxe Facebook page...was to make knit cupcakes. This, at the time, was beyond anything I had even thought to make. WHOA! But I researched immediately with trusty ol' Google. It led me to a few different options. I originally tested this out with a video. While some of the techniques were good (I learned a new cast-on, the drawstring cast-on), the final project was far from "cupcake"-esque. In our house, it has been dubbed the fuzzy mushroom (I had used a fun fur on the topping) and the furry cupcake. It wasn't all fail, as I did learn new things from this trial and error episode. I moved on to trying a written out pattern and received great results. Each one was tweaked a little as there was a bit of a learning curve. I made a total of four small cupcakes, and one large cupcake that I had to adapt the pattern myself onto a larger loom. Each cupcake has a bit of its own personality and is unique in its own way (as I tried a few different techniques each time). The small ones are made on the small blue knifty knitter loom and the large one was adapted onto the red knifty knitter (one size up). I played with a few different types and weights of yarn to achieve different effects. Thank you to The Loom Lady for a great starting point pattern: http://loomlady.blogspot.com/2007/02/couple-cupcakes-more.html
Mine look nothing like hers, lol. But customer satisfied and I had a lot of fun in the process. So here you go...loom knit cupcakes:
